The Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit (EFRU) have again proved to be a solid shoulder for the Civil Protection Departmenttorelyonduring the evacuation process of foreign citizens from Libyabyassisting in the ‘on-land coordination’ at Pinto Wharf.

EFRU volunteers were present at most dockings of catamarans, cruise liners and other rescue vessels to ensure the well being of all the travellers arriving from Libya. These volunteers supplied incoming passengers with basic food items such as water, fruit juice, bread and biscuits to assist them in rehydrating and regaining their strength after the lengthy voyage.

The Unit’s ambulance was also on site ready to transport those in a relatively poor state of health to Mater Dei Hospital.
