Run for Unity – May 2012

May 14, 2012 in General

On Saturday 12th May 2012, the Emergency, Fire and Rescue Unit (EFRU) was called in to offer first aid cover to the event – Run4Unity ’12.

Many children and adolescents gathered near SanAnton Gardens in Attard and walked, ran or cycled to the Greek Theatre in Ta’ Qali. The Unit’s Ambulance guided those participating all the way whilst two other EFRU members cycled with the participants equipped with First Aid Kits and drinking supplies ready to offer assistance on the spot to anyone in difficulty.

Those who participated in this ‘Run for Unity’ included a number of schools, scout groups and M.U.S.E.U.M.S around Malta.

Upon arrival, all participating groups met in the Greek Theatre, where some entertainment, which included singing and games was held. The main aim of ‘Run4Unity’ was, as stated by them, “Young people of different ethnicities, cultures and religions will run together, through significant places on the earth, to show their commitment to peace and solidarity.”

Throughout the 4-hour activity, a number of participants were given First Aid for minor injuries.
