The Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit (EFRU) is a volunteer-based organisation dedicated to saving lives and serving the community with professionalism, integrity, and heart.
Founded in Malta, EFRU is made up of highly trained individuals who respond to a wide range of emergencies, from fires and traffic collisions to urban rescues and first aid operations. Our members undergo rigorous training in disciplines such as fire fighting, first aid, urban search and rescue and rope rescue, ensuring we’re always ready to act when needed.
But EFRU is more than a rescue team. We’re a family!

International Collaboration
EFRU is proud to be a founding member of EVOLSAR, the European Association of Civil Protection Volunteer Teams. Through this international network, we collaborate with other elite volunteer rescue units across Europe and beyond, sharing expertise, training together, and deploying in large-scale disasters beyond Malta’s borders.
