E.F.R.U. Volunteers experiencing rescue techniques in Badolato Italy

A group of rescue volunteers from the ‘Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit’ have just returned from a training program organized together with the ‘Soccorsi Speciali Edelweiss’ held undertheauspicesofthe ‘Civil Protection Department – Malta‘.

The training course was held at Badolato – Reggio Calabria.

Duringthisprogram 8 E.F.R.U. rescue volunteers and 2 C.P.D. rescue volunteers, who also formed part of the Maltese team, participated in various training exercises mainly Urban Search & Rescue (U.S.A.R.), Road Traffic Accident (R.T.A.) and Swift Water Rescue.

During the certificate presentation ceremony both the Director of the ‘Civil Protection Department – Malta‘ and the President ‘Soccorsi Speciali Edelweiss’ expressed their satisfaction at the high level that the Maltese intervention teams demonstrated during the exercises.`

The Maltese contingent formed part of a group of 25 Italian doctors, rescuers and first aiders and the purpose of this training was to standardize rescue procedures in various disciplines.

Each E.F.R.U. volunteer was enrolled with the ‘Soccorsi Speciali Edelweiss’ in order to enable and facilitate a rapid deployment team in cases of major disasters in Italy where additional manpower is required.
